How did Sri Tammineedi Visweswara Rao Garu become the Founder of BMPS ?
Late Sri Tammineedi Visweswara Rao Garu (1926-2000) was born in 1926 in Otaada, West Godavari, to Sri T. Narayana Murthy, a farmer, and Buli Venkammma Garu.
He initially engaged in farming with his father before making a significant decision to pursue a business career that would bring him respect and wealth. In 1947, at the age of 22, he moved to Rajahmundry and began working in the lorry business. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a transport company in 1959.
With the support of his brothers, he launched Bharat Motor Parcel Service in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, starting with 3 lorries and 10 branches. The company quickly expanded along the east coast of Andhra Pradesh and further into Rayalaseema and Telangana during the 1980s and 1990s. The service eventually extended throughout Andhra Pradesh, with branches in major cities such as Berhampur in Orissa, and metropolitan cities like Bangalore and Chennai.
